Solana Labs has announced that its users can now interact with the Solana network using an open-source plugin integrated with ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence chatbot created by OpenAI. The plugin enables ChatGPT to perform tasks such as transferring Solana-native tokens, checking wallet balances, and buying NFTs, as and when they are made available by OpenAI. The plugin feature allows developers to test the open-source code and retrieve on-chain data of interest.
Solana Labs has shared screenshots of ChatGPT displaying a list of non-fungible tokens acquired by a specific Solana address, including metadata links to the NFTs collected from Solana Labs’ block explorer. However, Solana Labs has not yet disclosed whether the plugin will be released, or when it will be made available to all users by OpenAI.
The ChatGPT plugin’s innovative features allow it to recover information from online sources and connect with third-party websites when responding to user requests. However, not all users are content with the development. Some have questioned the benefits that the plugin would bring to the ecosystem, while others suggest that Solana should focus on creating a “working block explorer” first.
In addition to the plugin feature, Solana Labs is also focused on AI, having recently announced the allocation of $1 million in funding for projects that establish AI tools on Solana. OpenAI, meanwhile, announced that ChatGPT users can now use a new privacy feature that allows them to turn off their chat history, giving users greater control over their data.
Conversations that begin when chat history is disabled will not be used to train or enhance OpenAI’s models, nor will they show up in the history sidebar. The feature can be accessed through ChatGPT’s settings and can be changed at any time. Deleted conversations will be preserved for 30 days, during which abusive material can be reviewed and observed, after which they will be permanently deleted.

Finally, OpenAI has added a new “export” option, which allows users to download their data and make more sense of the information saved by ChatGPT. Italy is the only European country to ban ChatGPT until it complies with the General Data Protection Regulation, which governs user privacy laws in the European Union.
