Created in collaboration with Apollo Entertainment, The Oath originally came to life as a physical painting by Jones in his Edinburgh studio. The piece features Saint Edward’s Crown, which was famously worn by Queen Elizabeth II during her coronation in 1953, and is a true testament to the majesty of the coronation ceremony, which has been a centerpiece of the event since 1661.
With a truly incredible animation and sound design, The Oath NFT was available as an open edition on the Nifty Gateway NFT marketplace from May 4th to May 7th, and a whopping 20,202 editions of the piece were minted by unique wallets. Those keen to get their hands on the piece were able to claim it directly from the marketplace, by scanning a QR code printed in the Evening Standard, or by keeping an eye out for the NFT’s presence on billboards along Oxford Street.
As we move further away from the momentous occasion, the excitement surrounding The Oath NFT shows no signs of abating. On May 14th, a full week after the coronation, collectors who still hold their open edition of The Oath will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win one of 444 NFT pieces of The Crown. In addition, all collectors will be in with a chance of winning one of ten physical prints of The Oath, each of which will be signed by Trevor Jones.
